One of the richest families in the Philippines, the Ayala Brothers were caught on camera riding Metro Rail Transit (MRT-3) yesterday morning went viral online after it was posted by some netizens. Businessman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala, chairman and CEO of Ayala Corp. was spotted riding the MRT.
According to a news report posted by ABS-CBN, businessman Jaime Augusto took the train as part of his inspection with fellow businessman brother Fernando, chairman of Ayala Corp., of the interconnection of the mass rail system.
A certain photo showing Jaime Augusto and a companion among the standing passengers, went viral on social media. In another photo, the business purchased his contactless beep card from a machine while brother Fernando looked on.
AF Payments Inc., a consortium of Ayala Corp. and Metro Pacific Investments Corp., was awarded the contract to implement the beep card system at the MRT-3 and Light Rail Transit Lines (LRT) 1 and 2. The Ayala group is part of the consortium Light Rail Manila Corp. which has taken over the operations and maintenance of the LRT-1.
Aside from the inspection of the MRT-3, the powerful and richest Zobel de Ayala brothers also inspected the rehabilitation of LRT-1.
