Former Philippine President and incumbent Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada will run again for President of the Philippines in 2016 if the disqualification of Sen. Grace Poe from the race becomes final and Vice President Jejomar Binay is removed as a presidential candidate due to the corruption cases against him.
According to report, Joseph Estrada can substitute for Romel Mendoza, secretary-general of Kalipunan ng Masang Pilipino (Kampil), which is allied with his Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP). Mayor Estrada also wants Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to be his running mate.
During an interview with The Star, Mayor Estrada was quoted as saying “He is a strong candidate. He has the so-called solid North vote. He is also strong here in Metro Manila because of the housing programs that benefited thousands of Manileños in the 1970s when Mrs. Imelda Marcos was governor of the Metro Manila Commission.”
Mayor Estrada has until December 10, 2015 to make official his presidential candidacy as the camp of the mayor noted that many things can still happen in the remaining six or seven days before December 10, 2015.
Unlike Mayor Duterte’s substitution, Mayor Estrada may face a slight hurdle on his ambition to run again for President and he has already a complete list of 12 senatorial candidates under his team.
