The President of the Republic of the Philippines, President Benigno S. Aquino III wants government workers to match the salaries of private workers to at least 70 percent as he lamented the huge gap between the salaries of the two sectors once they are promoted.
The statement of Pres. Aquino was released during the thanksgiving celebration and national assembly of the Tarlac First Baptist Church on Sunday.
According to the President who is now on its last year of service as chief executive of the country, he maintained that the government should increase the salaries of its workers so they could be on par with private employees.
Pres. Aquino reiterated that proposed salary increase in the public sector aims to make government employees and offices more competitive. The president added further that higher pay for public employees will attract and retain talent in the government.
