The tough-talking mayor of Davao City, Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte reportedly made his final decision to run for President of the Republic of the Philippines and chooses Sen. Bongbong Marcos as his running mate. A member of the Marcos family reported having received an invitation to the launching of Mayor Duterte’s presidential bid in Paoay, Ilocos Norte this Saturday.
According to the source, who requested anonymity, said she does not know why the launch will be made in Paoay, the strongholds of the Marcoses and the location of the popular Malacañang of the North is located, but added that Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. would be at the event.
Although the reports of Mayor Duterte declaring and launching his presidential bid in Ilocos Norte, a close ally of Mayor Duterte, Christopher Go, denied the report and was quoted as saying “it is not true and there is no such thing.”
Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s ally noted however, that the launching may have referred to, the launching of the Vice Presidential bid of Sen. Bongbong Marcos, who earlier said he would support Duterte if he seeks the presidency.
The presidential candidacy of Mayor Duterte was earlier endorsed and shortlisted by Partido ng Manggagawa at Magsasaka (PMM). Aside from Mayor Duterte, PMM also short-listed OFW-Family Party-List Rep. Roy Señeres who revealed that he would launch his presidential bid on Sunday at the Liwasang Bonifacio because not one of the presidential aspirants is taking up the cudgels for 15 million contract workers in the country and the plight of more than 10 million overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
