Low Pressure Area (LPA) Spotted in the Visayas (Bagyong Kabayan)

The country’s weather bureau, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is tracking a Low Pressure Area in the Visayas according to their latest weather bulletin released today, October 1, 2015.

According to PAGASA, they are now tracking a low pressure area in the Visayas. At 4:00 AM Today, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated based on all available data at 245 km East of Catarman, Northern Samar.

The LPA brings light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms over Visayas, Bicol region, Caraga and the provinces of Quezon, Mindoro, Marinduque and Romblon.

PAGASA also noted that they will keep monitoring the LPA as it may intensify into a tropical cyclone. The status of the LPA will be determined after it has crossed the West Philippine Sea by Friday.

Once the LPA will strengthen into a tropical cyclone, it will be locally named as “Kabayan.”

The weather bureau also reported that in Metro Manila and the rest of the country, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms will prevail and light to moderate winds blowing from the east to southeast will prevail over Luzon and Visayas.
