DILG Sec. Mar Roxas to Choose His Running Mate for the 2016 Elections

The newly-endorsed presidential candidate of the Liberal Party, DILG Secretary Mar Roxas will have the final say on who among his political ally will be his running mate in the highly anticipated 2016 national elections wherein he will run as President. The Liberal Party confirmed to the media that they are leaving it up to Sec. Mar Roxas to choose his own vice-presidential running-mate in the 2016 elections.

Mar Roxas Poe Escudero

According to Eastern Samar Rep. Ben Evardone, the spokesman of the ruling Liberal Party said that LP is “extremely hopeful” that Senator Grace Poe will consider the option of running as Mar Roxas’ running-mate in the coming national elections.

The Liberal Party also noted that aside from Sen. Grace Poe, the other viable vice presidential candidates for the 2016 election is Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero.

Rep. Evardone also added that it is possible that Mar Roxas may ask Escudero to run with him since they are coalition partners, despite Escudero’s earlier decision not to endorse Roxas as vice-presidential bet in 2010.

The Liberal Party pointed out the Sen. Escudero will bring a considerable number of votes to Secretary Mar Roxas, “considering his track record as Senator and Congressman and a Bicolano.

Aside from the two senators, the Liberal Party also revealed that other candidates being considered are Secretary Jun Abaya and Congresswoman Leni Robredo but when they were asked if Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos-Recto is also being considered, Liberal Party just noted that the governor is also highly qualified.
