Shamaine Buencamino is back on the limelight after the death of her daughter Julia, facing the members of the media for the first time on Thursday.
Life and art go for the veteran stage actress as she is set to star in a play “33 Variations.”
In the press interview, media were requested “as a courtesy to Ms. Shamaine Buencamino’s family,” that the post-performance interviews focus only on the play.
Shamaine plays Katherine, the music scholar who has ALS.
“There was almost two months of rehearsals for the play,” she told reporters.
But the story of the play also touches the story of the mother and her relationship with her daughter, which became significant to Shamaine.
“I really like the message of the play, which is… life is so fast. And relationships between mothers and daughters, we go through that. We don’t realize it’s important,” she explained.
Becoming the play as “her first performance in front of the audience”, the veteran actress herself referred to the passing of her daughter.

“I have had to sometimes have to control myself because flashes of reality can come even when I’m on stage. So I have to be really careful to really focus on the play,” she said.
Shamaine said she is set to do a new TV show with ABS-CBN soon after leaving her previous soap opera “My Mother’s Secret” in GMA-7 after her daughter passed away.
