The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) released a statement regarding the Pay Rules for the upcoming July 27, 2015 national Special Working Holiday in celebration of Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) anniversary. Unlike the previous year, Pres. Aquino declared July 27 as a Special non-working holiday in commemoration of INC’s centennial celebration.
According to DOLE the following Pay Rules shall apply in the July 27, 2015 Holiday: “For work performed, an employee is entitled only to his basic rate. No premium pay is required since work performed on said days is considered work on ordinary working days.”
The July 27 holiday was declared was declared as special national working holiday in 2008 through Republic Act No. 9645 in commemoration of the founding anniversary of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) in the country.
The INC Holiday also coincides with the last and final State of the Nation Address of President Benigno Aquino III. During last year’s SONA, some schools in Quezon City were allowed by the Department of Education to suspend cl(–foul word(s) removed–).
The schools were located near the Batasang Pambansa, where the president delivered his speech.
