The team, led by Jovelyn Gonzaga started the close game but failed to retain the momentum and control the shots of Indonesians.
Backing up for the Philippine team was the power tandem of Jaja Santiago and superstar Alyssa Valdez but eventually failed to lift the team’s offense.

Earlier, the team protested against Indonesia’s April Manganang for gender issues however, the gender test was denied due to lack of “material time to conduct the gender test.”

Manganang was among Indonesia’s best who scored power spikes.

Expecting for a live coverage of the sporting event as it was advertised on a local broadcaster of the SEA Games, fans were dismayed and frustrated over the not-televised much awaited game.

AksyonTV meanwhile, apologized for not airing the first game of the Philippine women’s volleyball team because of “technical problems encountered with the transmission feed from Singapore.”
