The country’s weather bureau, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Monday, May 4, at around 10:00 AM, the Tropical Depression “Dodong” was spotted at 1,615 kilometers east of Mindanao with maximum winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center.
PAGASA also added that the tropical depression is hovering over the Pacific Ocean and is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday and may bring much-needed rain to the country later this week.
The latest weather disturbance was forecast by PAGASA to move west-northwest at nine kph based upon the latest advisory released by PAGASA on Monday.
PAGASA said the disturbance was forecast to move west-northwest at nine kph. One the Tropical Depression enters the Philippines it will be named locally as Bagyong Dodong.
According to Senior weather forecaster Robert Sawi, the direct track and impact of the cyclone are still uncertaine although forecasters are keeping an eye on it.
The forecasters are still unsure with the typhoon’s path, but there is a chance that it will make a landfall over Luzon. The forecast track is based on climatological track and the cyclone’s current movement.
