The Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC), the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will launch the highly anticipated Express Connect or the Express Bus System along EDSA starting on Monday.
According to the implementing agency of the Express Bus System, under the program a total of 50 buses will be used as Express Bus, they won’t use the bus lanes and will have fewer bus stops.
The pilot route for the Express Bus System is from Fairview to Roxas Boulevard. The Bus Express was divided into three groups with E-1 buses will drop off in COA, Ortigas Avenue, Ayala Avenue and Gil Puyat.
The E-2 bus has almost the same bus stops except that it will not drop off along Ortigas Avenue, while the E-3 buses will unload in COA and Ayala Avenue only.
According to the study conducted by various government agency before its implementation on Monday, there will be no increase in fare during its pilot run and based on estimates, the travel time will be 30 minutes shorter. All Express buses will also be equipped with GPS,WiFi and CCTV cameras.
