The suspended mayor of the country’s financial district, Makati City Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay maintained that he will not leave the city hall of Makati as this would be seen as an “act of surrender.” The mayor noted further that he will not let a member of the Liberal Party taking the reins of the city’s leadership.

According to the 37-year-old Junjun Binay he will stay at the City Hall until the Court of Appeals act on the Petition for Certiorari filed by his camp to the Court of Appeals.
Makati Mayor Junjun Binay also revealed to the media that he was joined by his father, Vice President Jejomar Binay, and other family members when he stayed overnight at his office in the City Hall while hundreds of his supporters held vigil in the city hall to show their support to Mayor Binay.
During the meeting of the Makati Mayor and the current Vice President, the older Binay advised his son to stand firm on the accusations he is facing right now about the alleged corruption charges pressed against the Mayor of Makati.
On Wednesday, the Ombudsman placed Mayor Junjun Binay and other city officials under a six-month preventive suspension due to the allegedly overpriced Makati City Hall Building II.
