The Mayor of Makati City, Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay Jr., accused the camp of Secretary Mar Roxas of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) of being behind the “express suspension” of the Makati mayor from his office over allegations of corruptions.
According to Mayor Binay, the “special express” suspension order against him and several other Makati City officials are no longer came as a surprise. The six-month preventive suspension order was signed on Tuesday afternoon, just four days after the Ombudsman decided to proceed with the preliminary investigation into the allegedly overpriced Makati City Hall Building 2.
In a press conference on Wednesday, Makati Mayor Binay was quoted as saying “Sino ba ang mga bumubuo ng special panel ng Ombudsman na nag-imbestiga po sa akin? Mga prosecutors na kilalang tao ni Atty. Simeon Marcelo, na dating Ombudsman at law partner ni Atty. Nonong Cruz. Hindi lang sila mga abugado ni DILG Secretary Mar Roxas, sila rin ay kilalang mga operator ni Secretary Mar Roxas,” Binay said.
“Sino po ba ang implementing agency ng aking suspension? Ang DILG na pinamumunuan ni Secretary Roxas,” he added.
The mayor of Makati City maintained that all the allegations against him and his family are only part of a demolition job meant to discredit his father’s candidacy after Vice President Binay expressed his intentions to run for President in the 2016 Elections.
The Vice President and DILG Secretary Mar Roxas are two of the most prominent personalities in the country today which are being fitted against each other to battle it out in 2016 presidential elections. Sec. Mar Roxas was previously beaten by Vice President Jejomar Binay during the last Presidential elections.
