Senator Antonio Trillanes IV revealed the identity of the alleged coup plotter against the administration of Pres. Benigno Simeon Aquino III. Sen. Trillanes tagged former Defense Secretary Norberto Gonzales as one of the persons allegedly instigating a coup against Pres. PNoy.
The senator noted that he also got wind of reports on Gonzales’ involvement in an effort to overthrow the present administration, taking advantage of the public outrage caused by the Mamasapano incident that left 44 PNP-Special Action Force (SAF) elite commandos dead last January 25, 2015.
The Senator who led a failed coup against the Arroyo administration, described Gonzalez as “a sociopath” who would do anything he has in mind, but downplayed the capability of any group right now to topple the Aquino administration.
According to Sen. Trillanes, if ever the group who allegedly plans for a coup attempt against the present administration, he noted that there is a way to preempt the coup plan, by exposing it through public announcements.
The Senator revealed the alleged coup attempt last week, aside from Sen. Trillanes, Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago also mentioned that there have been meetings aimed at staging a coup although she said she would not support any moves.
The Department of National Defense also stated that the Department received reports but they have yet to be confirmed.
