MMFF-entry movie, “The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin 2” earned as much as P365 million as of Sunday, January 4, 2015 in box office earnings, leading all the official entries of the 2014 MMFF in terms of income. Aside from Star Cinema’s “Praybeyt Benjamin” the other entry of Star Cinema “Feng Shui” also performed well in the box office.
The confirmation of MMFF-entry movies’ official box office income figures was released to the media through an official statement by Star Cinema’s advertising and promotions manager Mico Del Rosario who posted the box office earnings of the two movies through his official Instagram account.
The movie “The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin 2” is on track to match the gross earnings of the previous movie of Vice Ganda which was also an official MMFF-entry, “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy” which is currently dubbed as the highest-grossing Philippine film of all time.
According to Star Cinema, their another MMFF-entry movie featuring Kris Aquino and Coco Martin titled “Feng Shui 2” has already garnered a total of P195 million in ticket sales from various theaters nationwide.
During an episode of “The Buzz” on Sunday, January 4, 2015, Boy Abunda announced that the annual Metro Manila Film Festival already earned more than P701 million in box office earnings as of January 1, 2015.
Aside from the movie “The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin” and “Feng Shui 2,” the other top grossing entries of the 2014 MMFF are the movies “My Big Bossings,” “Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles 2” and “English Only, Please.”
