A total of three theme songs was already nominated by the Archdiocese of Palo, Leyte as an inspiration for Pope Francis visit in honor of the Yolanda survivors. Filipino artists have been inspired to write those songs in connection with the visit of the world’s most popular religious leader, Pope Francis of the Roman Catholic Church.

The music videos of the three songs were already uploaded online last November 2014. The three songs are “We Are All God’s Children,” by Jamie Rivera; “Shepherd’s Love” composed by the Palo Archdiocese Commission on Youth Director Fr. Kim Margallo, and “Mercy” by international artist and member of electronica band Ooberfuse.
The song “Mercy” was written by Cherrie Anderson, the British-Filipino lead singer of Ooberfuse, who was born in Tacloban City, the worst area ever hit by super typhoon Yolanda during the year 2013.
According to Cherrie Anderson, who is currently based in England, she was on tour when super typhoon Yolanda made landfall in Leyte last 2013. She recalled that she was worried sick about her family whom she could not contact for days at height of the tragedy.
The song “Mercy” is a song of her appreciation to Pope Francis pastoral visit to her hometown in Leyte. She was quoted as saying “It is a measure of Pope Francis’ deep humanity and real concern for the poorest of the poor that he has chosen to offer direct consolation by visiting the thousands of families devastated by the worst typhoon ever to hit the Philippines,” she said.
Ex-Imago vocalist Aia de Leon and Michael Bulaong also performed the title track and carrier single “Mercy and Compassion.”
The Music Video will be added here as soon as available.
