The DBM noted that a maximum of P5,000 bonus will be given to all national government employees which could cost the national government’s budget totaling around P7 billion. Budget Secretary Butch Abad clarified that the said bonus is on top of the year-end bonus equivalent to a month’s pay and the additional P5,000 cash gift.

Budget Secretary But Abad noted that the government will be providing the employees the Productivity Enhancement Initiative (PEI) as recognition of the government employees efforts and consistent showing this year.

The national government noted that the PEI will be granted to employees who are in active service as of October 31 and have rendered at least a total or an aggregate of four months of service for the year, based on Budget Circular 2014-3.

For those employees who have rendered less than four months of service, they will be entitled to pro-rated PEI. The budget for the PEI of national government agencies will be sourced from the Miscellaneous Personnel Benefits Fund (MPBF) under the 2014 budget while the PEI for the employees of government-owned-and-controlled corporations (GOCCs) and government financial institutions (GFIs) will be charged against the respective approved corporate operating budget for the year.

The DBM noted further that all government employees began receiving their bonuses on Monday, December 15, 2014.
