Project NOAH Released Storm Surges Warning Due to Ruby (December 5)

The Project NOAH of the Department of Science and Technology released the latest update of their Storm Surges Warning on Friday, December 5, 2014, due to Bagyong Ruby which is expected to hit the Philippines on Saturday, December 6, 2014. According to PAGASA’s latest update as of 11:00 AM Bagyong Ruby was located at 455 km East of Borongan, Samar.

Bagyong Ruby packed with maximum sustained winds of 215 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 250 kph, it is forecast to move West Northwest at 13 kph, and expected to make a landfall in Samar on Saturday night.

PAGASA also noted that Bagyong Ruby will be associated with strong winds, storm surges of 4-5 meters, and heavy to intense rainfall from 7.5 – 20 mm per hour of rainfall within the 700 km diameter of the typhoon.

Meanwhile, according to Project NOAH, they advised all residents in low-lying and mountainous areas under Signal Nos. 3, 2 and 1, to be alert against possible flashfloods and landslides.
