Hagupit (Bagyong Ruby) Forecasts Track by JTWC, JMA & PAGASA

The weather disturbance tropical typhoon Hagupit (Bagyong Ruby) entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Thursday morning at around 3:00 AM according to the latest forecast released by PAGASA. The typhoon track of Bagyong Hagupit (Ruby) was also released by PAGASA and other international weather agencies such as the JTWC and the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

According to PAGASA’s latest weather bulletin update, as of 10:00 AM today, December 4, the center of typhoon Ruby was located based on all available data at 860 km East of Surigao City. Bagyong Ruby packed a maximum sustained winds of 195 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 230 kph and forecasts to move West Northwest at 2o kph.

There are conflicting forecasts with regards to the track of Bagyong Ruby, the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) of the US Navy forecasts that the super typhoon Hagupit, will first make a landfall over Eastern Samar in the coming weekend, moving slight more northwest, and skirting the northeast coast of the Bicol Region.

Meanwhile, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) which is a regional meteorological center for the West Pacific, forecasts that the typhoon Hagupit (Bagyong Ruby) will make a landfall in Leyte and will hit Northern Cebu or follow the path of the super typhoon Yolanda.

PAGASA on its part also issued the track of Bagyong Ruby with their forecasts that the weather disturbance will make a landfall at Borongan, Eastern Samar on Saturday morning, December 6 and heads to the Bicol Region in the following days.

While Ruby is still over the open ocean, PAGASA said Bicol, Eastern Visayas, Caraga and Davao regions will have cloudy skies Thursday, accompanied by light to moderate rain and thunderstorms.
