The award-winning singer and songwriter Ogie Alcasid is set to perform on ABS-CBN’s Variety show “ASAP 19” for the first time after 19 years. The “Nandito Ako” hit maker has already taped the episode which will be aired on November 2.
The President of OPM (Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-Aawit) is the special guest of “Mr. Pure Energy” Gary Valenciano in the segment “I Love OPM.” He was invited to perform by his friend, who is working as a staff on the show.
According to Ogie Alcasid’s road manager Rey Landa, the veteran singer asked for the permission of his home network TV 5 to guest at the musical-variety show. He was allowed since he doesn’t have show which has the same time slot with “ASAP.”
This was the first time that the 47-year-old singer will appear at the afternoon party show . When he was still working at the GMA network, he was regularly seen performing at the “Sunday All Stars” which airs at the same time with “ASAP.”
To introduce Ogie Alcasid, Gary Valenciano told the studio audiences: “From all of us here on ASAP 19, we are truly honored dahil kasama natin dito sa ‘I Love OPM’ ang isang special na tao na puno ng talent at sobrang malapit sa puso nating lahat.”
Ogie Alcaside thanked also ABS-CBN and his home network for allowing him to perform on ASAP stage. “After 19 years, thank you, Lord! Thank you ABS-CBN, of course, from my home network, maraming salamat,” he said.
