Karla Estrada, the mother of teen actor and heartthrob Daniel Padilla, shared how his son’s rumored girlfriend Kathryn Bernardo reacted to the so-called “audio clip scandal”.

In a live interview on “Aquino & Abunda Tonight” aired on Friday September 26, 2014, the actress said that she immediately talked to Kathryn Bernardo and her mother, Min, to ask them to allow Daniel Padilla to explain.
According to Karla Estrada, she went to Kathryn Bernardo’s home at the height of tropical storm Mario on September 18, 2014. She told the teen actress: “Anak, hindi ako nandito para ipilit sa’yo si DJ, pero alam ko na merong puwang sa puso mo. Kilala mo ang tunay na pagkatao ng anak ko, at gusto ko ‘yun ang makita mo.”
In the viral clip, Daniel Padilla was heard talking about a girl who seemed to excite him after having received a text message from her. Netizens speculated that he was referring to his “Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo” co-star Jasmine Curtis-Smith.

Daniel Padilla has since confirmed that it was indeed his voice on the 90-second audio clip. Jasmine Curtis-Smith admitted also that she and the 19-year-old actor had been exchanging text messages.
When asked how Kathryn Bernardo reacted, Karla Estrada said: “Tahimik siya. No, [she did not cry]. Pareho kaming nagpipigil ng emosyon, pero mas gusto ko kasing bigyan siya ng magagandang mensahe.”
