The Gilas Pilipinas squad ends their medal hopes in the Asian Games basketball competition as they were defeated by the home team, South Korea in a hardly fought contest on Saturday, September 27, 2014. The Gilas Pilipinas vs. South Korea basketball match ended with the final score at 95-97 in favor of the South Koreans.

The Philippine men’s basketball team played against the South Koreans without their naturalized center Marcus Douthit, who was not utilized y Gilas coach Chot Reyes during the game against the sharp-shooting Koreans.
The South Korean basketball team was led by TJ Moon with his 38 big points, including an 8-0 run that took the Philippines led during the fourth period.
Gilas Pilipinas mainstay June Mar Fajardo and LA Tenorio combined for seven points in the third quarter but the Koreans responded with their own run led by TJ Moon.
The Filipinos tied the game at 88-all with just 2:31 left in the fourth quarter, but the Koreans continued to dominate the offensive rebounds and second chance points. Jimmy Alapag carried the Philippine flag once again as they rebounded against the Koreans but his effort was not enough to secure a win against Korea.
The Gilas Pilipinas also led during the 1:18 mark in the fourth quarter with the score at 89-88 in favor of the Filipinos, but the home team ran down the clock scoring a lay up and a three pointer from Yang followed by an insurance free throw basket by TJ Moon.
LA Tenorio took the final shot of the game at the home court and scored a three-pointer for the final score at 95-97 in favor of the South Koreans who avenged their lost against the Philippines during the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship in Manila.
