The simultaneous installation of the device at the LTFRB Central and Regional Offices will be starting this January 2015. However, the LTFRB is yet to issue it’s memorandum to buy GPS for each PUB units. This is said by Chairman Atty. Winston Ginez on Manila Bulletin.

There’s a total of 23, 000 PUB’s nationwide. With it, Ginez said that they are hoping to install of the GPS in all PUB units nationwide this 2015.

By next month, the LTFRB will already issue the circular mandating of the installation to all PUB units nationwide. By November, they will already start accrediting GPS suppliers.

After which, PUB drivers are required to register the device (GPS) to LTFRB. Those authorized LTFRB personnel will then install the device to the individual bus units. It will also issue a tamper-proof sticker so that the integrity of the device will be ensured.

As Ginez said, this said GPS is really necessary for the safety of passengers. This will also detect if a certain PBU unit traveled within it’s allotted speed.

Indeed, once this GPS will be installed in a bus, it will then send information to the server. For every five seconds, Department of Science and Technology Advanced Science and Technology Institute will take charge.
