The Philippines will be tested at around 1:00 PM (Philippine Time) today, September 25, 2014, as they will face their FIBA Asia Cup and FIBA Asia Championship tormentor, the Iranian National Basketball Team in the Group F Matches of the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.

Both the Gilas Pilipinas and Iran moved to the Quarter Finals of the Asian Games Men’s Basketball after they defeated the lowly Indian National Basketball team during the past two days.
Although both teams already secured their Quarter Finals slot, the Philippines will try to defeat Iran to secure the top spot in Group E before going to the Quarter Finals on Friday, September 26. The Filipinos and the Iranians could also meet in the semis of the Asian Games’ Men’s Basketball.
The winner of the Gilas Pilipinas vs. Iran match will join the Top Team from Group C (possibly China) and the No. 2 Teams of Groups D and F. The loser on the other hand will make the other bracket featuring the No. 1 teams from Groups D and F and the No. 2 Team from Group C.
The basketball-crazy nation, Philippines already enjoyed a remarkable resurgence in the international basketball scene during the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain. The Filipinos were able to showcased their basketball skills against powerhouse teams such as Croatia, Greece, Argentina, and Puerto Rico. The Gilas Pilipinas also secured a win against African powerhouse Senegal.
The Iranian National Basketball Team, featured a total of eight players from the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship on their official line-up in the 2014 Asian Games. The national team members were composed of Hamad Haddadi, Nikkhah Bahrami, Mahdi Kamrani, Hamed Afagh, Oshin Sahakiah, Mohammed Jamshidi, Asghar Kardoust and Rouzbeh Arghavan.
