The Senator who won the most number of votes during the 2013 National Elections, Senator Grace Poe rode the Metro Rail Transit on Friday morning, August 29, 2014. Her gesture was lauded by netizens as she rode the MRT sans fanfare and without any bodyguards.

Social media users and netizens were the first to announced the senator’s MRT ride, and they even noted that the adopted daughter of movie icon Fernando Poe Jr. and Susan Roces lined up for nearly an hour at the MRT North Avenue station before boarding the train.
Some pictures were posted online and on various social networking site showing Grace Poe, standing in line with other MRT passengers. The 45-year-old senator disembarked at the MRT Pasay station, the site of the defective MRT station crashed last August 13, 2014.
The staff of Senator Grace Poe also confirmed that the Senator ride the MRT through the Senator’s official Twitter account. The Twitter account of the Senator noted that Sen. Grace Poe took the MRT at around 8:20 AM.
Sen. Grace Poe is set to lead a public hearing on the MRT incident, the gathering will be held this coming Monday at around 10:00 AM at the Senate Session Hall. The MRT trip of Senator Grace Poe came just a day after DOTC Secretary Jun Abaya rode the MRT.
