Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has already accepted the apology of comedian Ramon Bautista, who was recently declared as persona non grata by the city council through a resolution.
The author of the best-selling book “Bakit Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush Mo” was declared as persona non grata because of his controversial “hipon” joke. “Hipon” is a local slang term in Davao City referring to a woman who has sexy body but an ugly face.
On Wednesday August 27, 2014 , Ramon Bautista posted a photo of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte writing a note for him which read as “Mabuhay Ka” in her personal Instagram account.
He captioned the photo: “Ramon, si Rodrigo ito…” ang bungad nya. Tapos nag usap kami… and there was peace”
According to the report of GMA News, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and Ramon Bautista make peace through the comedian’s friend, RockEd founder Gang Badoy.
Yesterday August 28, 2014, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte reminded the city council and his son Vice-mayor Paolo Duterte through a post on his Facebook page that the decision to declare Ramon Bautista is a resolution not an ordinance.
“Let me remind the honorable vice mayor and the majority that their decision to declare Ramon Bautista persona non grata is a city council resolution and not an ordinance” he wrote on the post
Ramon Bautista has since apologized to the people in Davao City right after the incident happened. He also apologized through Instagram and Twitter.
“When a man humbles himself and apologizes for uttering a slur, that itself erases the wrong…to nurture residual hate against the guy is a human frailty,” Mayor Rodrigo Duterte wrote on another post.
