The ABS-CBN News journalist Anthony Taberna accepted the “Ice Bucket Challenge” after he was nominated by the Queen off All Media Kris Aquino, who also did the challenge during the live broadcast of “The Buzz” on Sunday August 24, 2014.
Anthony Taberna took the challenge live on “Umagang Kay Ganda” on Monday August 23, 2014. “Ms. Kris Aquino, bakit mo ako pinahamak? Paano naman ako tatanggi sa yo? I’m taking the challenge,” he said before the challenge.
Anthonny Taberna, also known as “Ka Tunying”, nominated the Justice Secretary Leila De Lima and Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Commissioner Kim Hinares to do the same. He also nominated her fellow news anchors Gerry Baja and Karren Davila.
“Ice Bucket Challenge” is done to raise awareness for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig’s disease. The participants should record themselves while doing the challenge but before getting drenched, they have to nominate others to keep the cycle going.
If the nominees refused to do the challenge, they are expected to donate cash to the ALS community in the United States. In some cases, participants do the challenge and donate at the same time.
Anthony Taberna is the latest local TV personality who did the “Ice Bucket Challenge”. Lea Salonga, Aga Muhlach, Dorris Bigornia, Korina Sanchez, Derek Ramsay as well as Sandara Park and apl.de.ap did also the challenge.
