PAGASA: New Low Pressure Area Spotted Outside of the Philippines (PAR)

The country’s weather bureau, PAGASA noted that a Low Pressure Area (LPA) has been spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday, August 9, 2014. According to PAGASA although an LPA is expected to enter the Philippines, right now it will not affect any part of the country since it is still too far away.

PAGASA August 9 Updates

The LPA has been spotted somewhere in the Pacific islands of Hawaii and the Federated States of Micronesia. In an interview with dzMM, PAGASA weather forecaster Meno Mendonza noted that although the LPA will not affect any part of the country, the Nothern Luzon areas should expect rains due to southwest monsoon (habagat).

According to the latest weather bulletin issued by PAGASA at around 5:00 AM, today, the Ilocos Norte, and the islands of Batanes, Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands will experience occasional rains.

The Metro Manila areas and the rest of the country on the other hand will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains or thunderstorms. Moderate and strong winds will be blowing from the southwest will prevail over Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere in the country, the winds will be light to moderate coming from the south to southwest with slight to moderate seas. The next weather bulletin of PAGASA will be issued tomorrow morning at aruond 5:00 AM but if there are any changes with the weather we will update this post.
