President Benigno Simeon Aquino III tears up in his 5th State of the Nation Address (SONA) as he recalls the legacy of his parents who fought for the democracy of the Philippines.
PNoy’s sister Kris Aquino also went emotional as her brother deliver his speech which last for more than 1 hour and 30 minutes. President Aquino’s SONA 2014 was held at the Batasan Pambansa on Monday, July 28, 2014.
In his speech, President Noynoy Aquino also talked about his “second life” after he survived an ambush in 1989 due to the coup against her late mother and former President Corazon Aquino.
Before he ended his speech, President Aquino became sentimental as he left the public with these following lines;Â “The Filipino is worth dying for,” “The Filipino is worth living for. The Filipino is worth fighting for.”
During his 91 minute State of the Nation Adress, President Aquino presented the achievements of his administration for the past four years. PNoy did mentioned lots of projects implemented, with numbers of beneficiaries and programs and services provided by the national government.
PNoy also discussed that projects that the Philippine government will push through including establishment of various infrastructures such as expressways and airports.
President Aquino also discussed the controversial Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) which was hinted with allegations and anomalies earlier. In the end, PNoy left his boss (the Filipino people) an assurance to achieve its administrative goal (daang matuwid) despite ailing criticisms and protests.
