Senator Bong Revilla Surrenders To Sandiganbayan

Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla surrendered to Sandiganbayan on Friday morning June 19, 2014. This was after the anti-graft’s division has issued an arrest warrant against him on Friday.

The arrest warrants which charged Revilla with graft and plunder cases over the alleged pork barrel scam was also issued to his chief of staff Richard Cambe, the so-called pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim Napoles, the brother of Napoles, Reynald Lim and the others involved in the alleged misuse of public funds.

The fomer Cavite governor is one of the three opposition senators which include Juan Ponce Enrile and Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada who were tagged in the stealing of public funds.

Bong Revilla was charged for accumulating P242 million from his pork barrel funds or priority development assistance funds (PDAF). He denied the accusations saying that his signatures was forged.

Before he surrender, he was quoted saying: “I am innocent of the charges. I am just a victim of dirty politics.”

Bong Revilla will be detained in Camp Crame after the anti-graft’s first division, headed by Associate Justice Efren dela Cruz, approved Revilla’s request through a motion to elect his detention facility.

Meanwhile, Bong Revilla’s camp has filed motion for bail ad cautelam for the charges he is facing. His motion will be heard by the anti-graft court on June 26, 2014.

The Sandiganbayan set the bail of 30,000 each on the graft charges however, the other charges filed against him is a non-bailable offense.
