Rubilyn Dela Peña & Edgar Penit: Iloilo Airport’s Honest Janitors Returned P1 Million Cash

Rubilyn Dela Peña and Edgar Penit were the two honest janitors who returned international currencies worth more or less P1 million at Iloilo Airport as confirmed by the Department of Tourism Region 6. The two janitors’ honesty were already recognized by the Iloilo City government and the Department of Tourism.

According to airport authorities in Iloilo City, a certain foreigner left a bag with dollars and dinars inside, the estimated worth of the currencies involved was more or less PhP 1 million.

Rubilyn Dela Peña and Edgar Penit were utility workers at the Iloilo International Airport, they were on duty at the pre-departure area of the airport when they found out the bag and with money inside, they decided to report to authorities and turn-over the bag with the money to their immediate supervisor. 

The airport authorities declined to divulge further details with regards to the lost bag even to the exact amount of money which was found by the two janitors. The main point is that the belongings and the money was already returned to its rightful owner.

Meanwhile in an interview with Bombo Radyo to Department of Tourism Region 6 Director Atty. Helen Catalbas, she noted that the DOT worked closely with CAAP Iloilo Manager Percy Malonico to give proper recognition to the two honest janitors working at Iloilo International Airport.

The two honest janitors, Rubilyn Dela Peña and Edgar Penit could be nominated also to the national award giving body in the country, the Tourism Star Awards of the Philippines which recognized people who have exhibited their commitment to tourism development with their invests, or excellent customer service.
