The Chinese government already declared and refused to allow the release of the biblical epic movie “Noah,” featuring Russell Crowe as the lead actor. The movie has already banned in a number of Muslim countries aside from the Chinese government ban.
The producer of the movie, Paramount Pictures tried to secure a release slot for the massive Chinese market but the country’s sensitivities on religious issue prevailed according to a news report posted by Los Angeles Times.
According to an unnamed source who declined to be identified by AFP noted that the movie Noah “will not release in China,” but declined to give further comments regarding the issue.
The movie “Noah” swept to the top of North American box office chart during its release last March but it was banned in various Muslim countries such as Bahrain, Indonesia, Malaysia, Qatar and United Arab Emirates, among other countries.
Although the main reasons of Noah’s ban in China cited religious reasons but some showbiz news reporters cited that the ban has its commercial reasons. Some movies is due to be release in China, particularly “Godzilla” which is due to be release in Chinese cinemas on June 13, 2014.
Meanwhile the movie “Noah,” angered some Christian institutions in the United States over Crowe’s reportedly unconventional portrayal of Noah, who is regarded as one of the most important figure in both Christianity and Islam.
