The mugshot of suspect Deniece Cornejo, one of those who was involved with the serious illegal detention case filed by host actor Vhong Navarro, was already released by the PNP to the public. The PNP released the mugshots of Cornejo on Monday night, May 5, 2014.
The 22-year-old Deniece Cornejo surrendered at the Camp Crame, the headquarters of the Philippine National Police on Monday, to face the case filed against her in connection with the mauling of comedian actor and TV host Vhong Navarro.
According to some law experts, the serious illegal detention is a non-bailable offense but the lawyer of Cornejo, Atty. Coney Aquino, said that they will file a petition for bail in court because the evidence against Deniece Cornejo is weak.
Deniece Cornejo spent the night at the PNP Criminal PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group’s Anti-Transnational Crime Unit detention cell with a number of fellow female inmates.
The suspect will then be brought to the Taguig Regional Trial Court today, May 7, 2014, according to the head of CIDG, Chief Supt. Benjamin Magalong.
The co-defendants of the serious illegal detention case filed by Navarro, businessman Cedric Lee and Simeon “Zimmer” Raz, Jr. were earlier captured by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
