University of the Philippines (UP) No.9th in Top 10 Universities in Asia

The University of the Philippines (UP) landed as No.9th in Top 10 Universities in Asia for 2013 according to Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asian University Rankings.

University of the Philippines, one of the country’s leading university has maintained its 151-200 rank in the QS world university rankings.

UP consist of seven constituent universities  and 15 satellite campuses across the nation with its flagship campus in Diliman, Quezon City. The 106-year-old university which was founded in 1908 is home to thousands of students across the country.

Meanwhile, National University of Singapore, the premiere university of Singapore  was named as the best university in Asia for 2013. It has been consistently included as one of the top universities in the world.

National University of Singapore was followed by another Singapore-based university, the Nagyang Technology University which landed on the second spot. Universiti Malaya in Malaysia landed on the third spot.

Mahidol Universiti and Chulalongkorn University in Thailand landed on the fourth and fifth spot respectively. Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and University Sains Malaysia, the counterparts of Malaysia landed on the 6th and 7th place respectively.

University of Indonesia was placed in the rank 8th along with University of the Philippines on the 9th spot. Reaching on the Top 10 is Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

According to Inquirer.net, QS Asian University Rankings 2013 ranked the schools with the following indicators:

  • academic reputation
  • employer reputation
  • international students
  • international faculty
  • faculty/student
  • citations per paper
  • papers per faculty
  • inbound exchange
  • outbound exchange
