Malaya Watson, the lone Filipino-American finalist to the American Idol 2014 Season 13 ended her journey on the world’s most popular singing competition following her elimination earlier.
During the live elimination round on Thursday night, April 10, 2014 (US Time), Malaya Watson along with C.J. Harris were placed at the Bottom 2.
The 16-year-old Tuba player from Michigan failed to impress the judges with her rendition of Chaka Khan’s “Through the Fire” and her duet of “I Knew You Were Waiting”with C.J. Harris during the Round 2 (Redux) performances of Top 8 finalists.
The Top 7 finalists of American Idol 2014 will compete on the next rounds of American Idol Season 13 and they will gear up for upcoming American Idol US tour which will kick off this summer.
Many of her fans and supporters were saddened for her elimination. Some of the entertainment press in United States were shocked on the announcement of Malaya Watson’s elimination.
Malaya Watson has been tagged as the crowd’s favorite featuring her vocal prowess which held her to reign on the competition.
US-based celebrity website, Hollywood Life dubbed the elimination of Malaya Watson as “heartbreaking.” The American singer with Filipino roots went emotional while performing her last song, “I Am Changing” on American Idol stage.
