University of the Philippines Diliman has announced on Monday, March 24, 2014 the approval to shift the school calendar from June-March to August-May starting academic year 2014-2015.
The announcement was made through the University of the Philippines Facebook page stating that UP Diliman University Council has approved the proposal to move the school calender starting August 2014.

Today, the UP Diliman University Council (composed of all (–foul word(s) removed–)istant professor to full professors) by a vote of 284-164 decided to support the shift in the academic calendar of UP Diliman from June to August 2014. Chancellor Michael Tan will now bring this sentiment to the next UP Board of Regents meeting on March 28 for approval.
With this development, all UP constituent units will start the school year in August 2014.

UP Board of Regents approved in February the shift in its academic calendar via pilot basis which will start on August 2014 for the following campuses including UP Manila, UP Los Banos, UP Baguio, UP Visayas, UP Mindanao, UP Open University and UP College in Cebu.
Aside from the University of the Philippines Diliman which earlier announced school calendar transition, Ateneo de Manila University and the University of Sto. Tomas likewise approved the shift in school calendar starting August 2014.
The revision of UP Diliman’s school calendar ventures to synchronize with international standard of academic calendar and integration of incoming (–foul word(s) removed–)ociation of Southeast Asian Nations in 2015.
