Alyssa Valdez from Ateneo de Manila University has been declared as the finals Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the UAAP Women’s Volleyball Championship 2014.
After the rage-inducing match between Ateneo Lady Eagles and La Salle Lady Spikers, ADMU has won with 25-23, 26-24, 25-21.
Ateneo sparked the battle at the SM Mall of Asia leading their historic victory against former three-time season’s champion De La Salle University.
“Teamwork talaga nagdala sa amin. Everybody played well. In-instil talaga sa amin ni coach (Tai Bundit) yung heart strong,” the 20-year-old AB Psychology student dominated with 19 points.
More than 21,000 flocked at the MOA Arena to witness a one-of-a-kind and spectacular fight between Ateneo Lady Eagles and La Salle Lady Spikers.
Alyssa Valdez is one of the powerhouse players from Ateneo de Manila University who started playing as the member of ADMU volleyball’s team since 2010.
She is one of the members of the University of Santo Tomas women’s volleyball team during her high school days. Alyssa Valdez has clinched the record of former season’s MVP Michelle Gumabao in 2013.

Alyssa Valdez also air her statement upon receiving her trophy as the Most Valuable Player during the finals of UAAP Season 76. Alyssa Valdez led Ateneo Lady Eagles for their first-ever knockout victory.
“When we reached the finals, we really had nothing to lose. We just enjoyed the game and played our best, and this was the result,” Alyssa Valdez further added.
