MMDA Starts Accepting MMFF 2014 Movie Entries

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 that they start accepting entries for this year’s highly anticipated film festival.

The announcement was revealed to the media by MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino despite the calls for MMDA to leave the Metro Manila Film Festival Philippines management to film experts.

MMDA Chairman invited local producers, directors and independent filmmakers to submit their entries as early as March 2014 for the 40th anniversary of the MMFF.

According to the MMDA Chairman the opening of accepting entries to the MMFF 2014 will be held at the Club Filipino in San Juan City on Wednesday which will be highlighted also with the awarding of cash incentives to the MMFF 2013 winners as well as first tranche of funds to beneficiary organizations.

Aside from the announcement of accepting entries to the MMFF 2013, MMDA Chairman Tolentino also noted that the deadline of the submission of entries for the mainstream film category will on June 2014.

Last year’s MMFF made a record-breaking achievement as the entire official entries raked in close to P1 billion in revenues, making the 2013 edition of festival as the “most successful and highest-earning festival in its 39 years of history.”

One of most successful top-grossing movie for the year 2013 is the Vice Ganda-starrer movie Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy which earned more than P427 million, and now considered as the All-Time Highest Grossing Pinoy Movie.
