Sportsman Richard Gomez On course to Make History

Actor-Sportsman Richard Gomez might make history of being the first Filipino athlete to play in the national team of four different sports as Gomez has a decent chance of making it in the country’s men’s volleyball squad that will compete in the Asian Men’s Club Championship.

The sporty TV personality, who represented the Philippines in three sporting disciplines, fencing, shooting and rowing in the international competition in the past, is part of the pool of men’s volleyball that is currently gearing up for the April 8 to 16 tilt that the country is hosting.

“Masaya ‘yung training,” said Gomez on Monday. “Nakakapagod pero we really have to prepare well kasiang kalaban namin, malalakas.” (Statement from Spin.ph)

Gomez, is keen at making the cut but the final line up set to compete in the 18-nation tournament is still unknown thus far. The nationals are bracketed in Group A with Iraq, Kuwait, and Mongolia.

The movie star played for PLDT myDSL team in the men’s tournament of the inaugural season of Superliga. Gomez  is a 2007 Southeast Asian Games gold medalist  for fencing and a 5-time National Fencing Champion.
