The Filipino-American contestant of American Idol, Malaya Watson made it to the Top 13 of the America’s most popular singing competition after giving an outstanding performance on Tuesday night, Wednesday morning in the Philippines.

The 16-year-old Malaya Watson, a tuba player from Southfield High School makes the cut in the Final 13 after being voted by the viewers as one of the Top 5 girls and one of the Top 13 performers of American Idol Season 13.
The announcement of the Top 13 finalist was made on Friday night (Thursday morning Philippines). The Top 13 finalist were announced after the performance made by the Top 13 guys yesterday.
During Tuesday’s performance, Malaya Watson gave an outstanding rendition of the song popularized by Ray Charles titled “Hard Times” where she got positive high remarks from the judges of the American Idol 2014.
Malaya Watson will advance to the next round of the competition the final 13 of the Season 13 of American Idol. She will be competing against Ben Briley, Emily Piriz, Alex Preston, Jessica Meuse, Dexter Roberts, Caleb Johnson, Majesty Rose, MK Nobilette, Sam Woolf, Kristen O’Connor, C.J. Harris and Jena Irene.
The other Filipino-American contestant of American Idol Marialle Sellars failed to make to the Top 13 of the competition.
