After a successful years in the juniors division, San Beda Red Cubs players Javee Mocon and Ranbill Tongco dreams to continue supremacy in a higher level as they committed to mother team San Beda Red Lions for the next season of NCAA.
Helping the Red Cubs to get its five peat NCAA juniors titles, Mocon and Tongco wanted to roar for more crowns under the NCAA Seniors defending champion San Beda Red Lions, who recently had their four consecutive titles.
Although the Red Lions failed to acquire the service of Arvin Tolentino, another Red Cub big man who transfers to Ateneo, San Beda head coach Boyet Fernandez still felt lucky with their rookies for the coming Season 90 of NCAA.
“As of now, we took two Red Cubs who committed to us in Javee Mocon and Ranbill Tongco,” Fernandez said.
Mocon was a big factor for the Red Cubs to get the fifth straight title with his average 10.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, while Tongco also contributed 13.5 points per game.
With Rome Dela Rosa going out next year, Mocon received lot of expectations as he would replace Dela Rosa’s position being the small forward, although his position in the high school level was a power forward.
“Javee will really fill up the spot which Rome left behind. Javee is playing four in the juniors but with his talent and attitude, I think he will have no problem adjusting to the three,” said Fernandez.
On the other hand, Tongco has to impress the coaching staff of San Beda especially coach Fernandez, as the team was filled with good point guards with first option Baser Amer.
Fernandez (–foul word(s) removed–)ured Tongco that he could be the team’s future point guard when others left the team.
Meanwhile, Fernandez confirmed that they are still looking for more players to tighten up their frontline.
