Higher rankings await for Stanislas Wawrinka and Dominika Cibulkova after recording great upsets in the recent 2014 Australian Open.
Stanislas Wawrinka, the newest Australian Open titlist, is expected to move up from No. 8 to No.3 replacing the position of David Ferrer when the new ATP rankings are released on Monday.
Wawrinka faces tough matches before he brought home the trophy of the Australian Open.
He dethroned 2013 Aussie champion Novak Djokovic, who will remain at the second spot, in the quarterfinals, then followed another upset when he discharged 7th-seeded Tomas Berdych in the semis. He defeated the ranked No.1 player Rafael Nadal, who remains on top, in the Finals of the competition.
Meanwhile, Dominika Cibulkova is projected to take the 13th spot, eleven place higher than her old 24th position, in the WTA rankings after making into the Finals of this year‘s Australian Open, although she lose to Chinese Li Na, who will climb one step higher at No.3 in the world rankings.
Cibulkova also went through the hole of a needle before reaching the Aussie Open Finals.
She trounced No.3 Maria Sharapova, who will drop to No.5, then upseta Agnieszka Radwanska, who beat 2013 Australian Open Champion Victoria Azarenka to climb at No.4.
Serena Williams and Azarenka retain their positions at Top 1 and Top 2 respectively. Nineteen year old Eugeniee Bouchard will enter the top 20 at No.19, twelve ranks closer than previous No.31.
