Roger Federer held off Andy Murray, 6-3, 6-4, 6-7 (6), 6-3 in their quarterfinal match to arrange semifinal contest with his fancied rival Wednesday in the Australian Open.

The win earned Federer his 11th consecutive appearance in the semis of Aussie’s.
Federer, who will face familiar foe Rafael Nadal next round, finished the match with an ace in his third match point to continue his dominance on Murray in the majors.
The 17-grand slam winner beat the reigning Wimbledon champion Murray for the fourth time in their five major encounter.
Earlier, Nadal defeated Grigor Dimitrov 3-6, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (7), 6-2 to clinch the first semis seat.
The semifinal affair of Federer and Nadal will be on Friday while the other pairing will be on Thursday.
Meanwhile, defending champion Victoria Azarenka failed her bid to win the women’s title thrice as she kneeled to Agnieszka Radwanska, 6-1, 5-7, 6-0.
Men’s titleholder Novak Djokovic also beaten in the quarterfinals by Stan Wawrinka, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, 3-6, 9-7.
