Philippine Senator and former action star Sen. Bong Revilla Jr., will finally speak and address his alleged involvement in the pork barrel controversy on his upcoming privilege speech at the Senate on Monday, January 20, 2014.
The Senator made the statement to the media during his arrival at the Mactan Cebu International Airport on Thursday evening, as part of his annual tradition to visit the Señor Sto Niño and the Sinulog Festival.
According to the 47-year-old Senator he has a special prayer and intention for this year’s visit to the Sto. Niño shrine in Cebu City. He was quoted as saying “We know, we’ve been through a lot last year. Our prayer is we could overcome this,” he told reporters in a press conference at MCIA.
Senator Bong Revilla then urged the public to watch for his privilege speech on Monday. He stated “Just wait for my privilege speech this coming Monday. I invite the entire country to listen and watch so they will know the truth,” Revilla said.
The Senator was accused of receiving kickbacks totaling P224.51 million in the pork barrel controversy. Together with Senator Jinggoy Estrada, and Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile, they face a plunder complaint for allegedly diverting their pork barrel funds to fake NGO’s of businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles.
