NDRRMC: Landslides & Flash-Floods Affected 4,000 People in Mindanao

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) there are more than 4,000 people in Mindanao are currently affected by landslides and flash-floods brought about by the effects of the Low Pressure Area (LPA).

The NDRRMC made the statement on Sunday also announcing that a total of 882 families or 4,253 people were affected in a total of 25 Barangays in about 11 municipalities in five provinces of Northern Mindanao (Region X), Davao (Region XI) and CARAGA (Region XIII).

Last January 11, 2014 a landslide occurred in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte and Sitio A1 Purok 6, Brgy. El Salvado, New Corella Davao del Norte.

NDRRMC also confirmed that a flash-flood hits Barangays Poblacion and Mambajao in Camiguin which affected several families in the area. Flooding were also reported in the municipalities of Asuncion, Kapalong.

In Compostela Valley there are at least five towns were affected by floods, with the Bailey Bridge in Brgy. Depot upper Ulip and bank protection dike in Brgy. Naboc, Monkayo were damaged.

There are flooding that are monitored by the NDRRMC in the towns of Veruela and Rosario in Agusan del Sur. More than 42 families were also evacuated in Tubod, Surigao del Norte due to the rising of waters in the Magpayang River.
