The movie “Pagpag” featuring Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo earns more than P23.6 million on opening day of the Metro Manila Film Festival 2013 (MMFF 2013) as the festival starts its showing on December 25, 2013.
In an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN News, Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo were so grateful with the outcome in the box office results of the movie “Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay” during the opening day of the MMFF.
Kathryn Bernardo was quoted as saying “Importante na may matututunan kayo sa movie na ito. Horror siya na comedy na suspense, lahat na. Okay siya panoorin ngayong Pasko, para exciting,” she said.
The 17-year-old Kathryn Bernardo attributed the success of her movie with Daniel Padilla to their directors and the entire casts of the movie who worked hard for it.
The “Got To Believe” superstar actress added further that “Sa totoo lang, ngayon lang namin nakita ‘yung buo na maayos na lahat. Masaya ako na napanood ko siya. Hindi ko ine-expect na [ganito ang final output]. Gusto ko i-congratulate din ‘yung mga directors namin kasi sila talaga ‘yung nakipagpuyatan, and yung sa mga effects,” she said.
Daniel Padilla on his part was thankful to his fans, supporters and followers who watched their movie, the lone horror-entry in the MMFF 2013.
According to the official updates of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the movie “Pagpag” placed third in terms of ticket sales for the MMFF Opening Day on December 25, 2013.
Star Cinema’s Roxy Liquigan, revealed through Twitter that “Pagpag” has earned P23.6 million on opening day, beating the records set by horror films “Dalaw” (P12.4m) and “Segunda Mano” (P18.5m) both featuring Kris Aquino.
MMDA only released the rankings of the MMFF 2013 movies but did not give official figures yet with the gross income of the 2013 MMFF movies. The organizers only stated that the December 25 recors is 12% higher compared to last year’s opening day records.
