The three guards of Right Eight Security Inc., were arrested by the Makati Police right after they refused to allow the four-car convoy of Makati Mayor Junjun Binay to p(–foul word(s) removed–) through a restricted gate on November November 30, according to a news report posted by Inquirer.
According to the source from Inquirer, the entire incident at the Gate of Banyan and McKinley Roads was recorded by CCTV cameras of North Forbes Park and Dasmariñas Village.
The 24-minute video was posted by Inquirer on YouTube and went viral right after it was posted online. The standoff at Dasmariñas Village was also witnessed by the mayor’s sister, Sen. Nancy Binay, a p(–foul word(s) removed–)enger of one of the vehicles.
Inquirer reported that the video clip showed Mayor Binay, who was in a polo shirt, stepped out of the lead vehicle after two security guards manning the Banyan Road gate on McKinley Road not lift the iron barrier to allow the convoy to p(–foul word(s) removed–).
According to the Inquirer’s source who was quoted as saying “The mayor went down from the lead car and asked the guards, ‘Don’t you know me?” the source told the Inquirer.
The Makati Police arrived at the incident and lifted the gate’s barrier, shortly after, they arrested the two guards and Virgilio Roban, the Dasmariñas Village security officer in charge.
According to the source the three guards were taken to the Makati Police headquarters where they were detained at least four hours. The Inquirer also contacted Supt. Manuel Lucban, Makati City Police head and told the media outlet that the guards were brought to the police headquarters for verification purposes.
The police officer confirmed that everything was settled already and they did not file charges to the security officer so they were released. The president of Dasmariñas Village Homeowners (–foul word(s) removed–)ociation on his part confirmed the incident between the guards and Binay but stated that everything were settled already.
The President of Right Eight Security also commented that the agency had already apologized to Mayor Binay. He was quoted as saying “We have instructed our guards to apologize to the mayor and we have started a debriefing session,” Antonio said.
The Makati City Hall through spokesman Joey Salgado made a statement through a text message sent to Inquirer, he said that president of Right Eight had sent a letter to Binay and “apologized profusely for the incident.” He also that Pantangco had admitted that “there were lapses in their procedures.”
