UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to Visit Tacloban City

United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is scheduled to visit the typhoon-stricken City of Tacloban in the province of Leyte this week to highlight the growing number of weather disasters that hits the world.

The UN Leader, Ban Ki-moon announced that “2013 was another year of extreme weather – as we saw most recently with Typhoon Haiyan. On Thursday (December 19), I will depart for Manila and Tacloban for a firsthand (–foul word(s) removed–)sment of the aftermath,” Ban said Monday as he announced the visit.

The Secretary General of the United Nations will arrive in Manila this coming Friday, December 20, 2013, for talks with government leaders and he will go to Tacloban City on Saturday, December 21, 2013 as confirmed by UN spokeswoman Eri Kaneko.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will leave the Philippines on Sunday, December 22, 2013.

The Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki Moon is a South Korean diplomat who succeeded former Secretary General Kofi Annan in 2007. He is the eight Secretary-General of the United Nations.

Ban Ki-moon is a former diplomat of South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the United Nations.
