A Don Mariano Transit Corp. bus with plate number UVC 916 fell off the elevated part of the Skyway in Barangay Marcelo Green, Paranaque City and plunged into the west service road of the southbound land of South Luzon Expressway (SLEx) at around 5:00 AM on December 16, 2013.

According to the latest report from ABS-CBN the crash of the bus from the Skyway caused heavy traffic in SLEx. Aside from the bus that fell off the Skyway, an aluminum van (ULX 874) reportedly carrying two (2) people was crushed after the bus fell on top of it.
The Philippine Red Cross confirmed that there are 221 people died from the incident, while at least 8 others were wounded including bus driver Carmelo Calascas who were rushed to various hospitals in Metro Manila.
The traffic investigators have yet to determine how the bus fell off the Skyway, the Mariano Transit bus and the closed ban were heavily damaged during the incident.
Some drivers who witnessed the incident believes that the bus violated the Skyway speed limit for buses of 80 kilometers per hour. Meanwhile Skyway communications officer Ivy Vidal told ANC that the wet road may have caused the bus to ram the Skyway railings and plunged into the road below.
Due the accident by one of Don Mariano Transit Bus, the Land Transportation Regulatory and Franchising Board (LTFRB) has issued a 30-day preventive suspension for all 78 units of Don Mariano Transit.
