Cong. Lucy Torres-Gomez Exposed Delay of Relief Operations (Video)

Congresswoman Lucy Torres-Gomez representing the Fourth District of Leyte exposed the main reasons why the relief efforts in Ormoc City is moving slowly. During an interview with ANC’s Headstart, the representative told host Karen Davila that politics is hampering the relief efforts in Ormoc.

The 38-year-old lawmaker Lucy Torres revealed that the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) were using the voter’s list as the basis for the number of families affected by super typhoon Yolanda.

The DSWD and the LGU’s involved are causing delays in the distribution of relief goods to the victims because they were influenced by politicians and their political affiliations.

Lucy Torres-Gomez cited one situation wherein the US Navy offering their choppers to the LGU but the government did not agree with the offer given by one of the US Navy’s commander. The congresswoman was thankful for the service of US servicemen who offered her help in distributing the relief goods to affected areas.

The former model turned TV host, Lucy Torres also said that the relief operations in Ormoc are not going well. She was quoted as saying, “Yung sistema na ginawa ng national government in theory it’s correct. But just because the plan is perfect in their minds doesn’t mean its application on the ground will also be perfect.” she said.
